Education is the cornerstone of individual and community success. Local infants, children, and youth need nurturing, support and opportunities to succeed in school, life, and to reach their full potential. Children who receive a quality education are more likely to graduate from high school and be better prepared for the workforce.
Through Schools of Hope, United Way is leading the effort to eliminate the reading achievement gap by helping our local children to master their reading skills. The ability to read is a powerful predictor of later academic achievement and success in life. Children who have not mastered reading skills by the 3rd grade continue to fall further behind in school and are more susceptible to academic and behavioral problems which can lead to higher drop-out rates.
We all win when a child succeeds in school. Join United Way and its partners to help our youth.

Together we can make our community stronger by ensuring our children reach their fullest potential.
