Saving seniors from loneliness and isolation

Over 100,000 seniors call our community home.  Many of them struggle with depression and isolation.  United Way has helped improve the self-sufficiency of seniors, empowering them to remain in their homes and to live happier, healthier lives.  United Way supported services have:

  • reduced senior depression
  • resulted in more seniors who are physically and mentally healthier
  • resulted in more seniors who participate more in their community

By supporting United Way's Senior Independence, you will help seniors in our communities live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives.  For a list of 2009-2010 United Way grant recipients in each of the four focus areas, click here.

1. Give - Support a local senior.

Your contribution brings real lasting changes in the lives of seniors right here in our community by helping them stay in their homes longer and thereby living a healthier, more active life.

2. Advocate - Lend your voice to key issues regarding seniors.

Lend your voice in support of key issues affecting senior citizens by advocating for important policies and legislation.  Share what you know with key business and community leaders who can influence public policy as well as getting your friends and family involved.

3. Volunteer - Donate your time or expertise to help local seniors.

We can connect you with great opportunities to make a difference in the lives of local seniors.
