United Way Switchboard - Humboldt

The United Way Switchboard is a free, confidential phone number connecting callers in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties to community resources. Callers talk to a live person who listens and helps clarify their needs, identify options and connects the caller to the needed resource and aid.

The Switchboard is available at:
1.877.460.6000 or 707.441.1001

The Switchboard also:

  • Administers the Women and Children's Fund, a mini-grant fund that finances unmet needs for women and children in the community for goods and services. The fund is available for families and single women in Humboldt County.
  • Facilitates the Humboldt Community NETwork (the NET), a partnership of service providers committed to improving the health and well-being of children, youth and families in Humboldt County. Monthly network meetings are held for social service providers.
  • Manages the Self-Sufficiency Calculator for Humboldt County. This is a web based tool that can provide information about different benefits and credits a person may be eligible for after just a ten minute screening process. It shows the dollar amounts expected from each benefit and a monthly budget on how everything connects.
  • Screens individuals and families for the Humboldt Housing Now program that works to prevent homelessness and encourage rapid re-housing.
  • Promotes and screens for the Earn It! Keep It! Save It! program, which provides free tax assistance to qualified individuals and families.

Currently the Switchboard is adjusting to meet the needs of the community by moving to implement a 2-1-1 call system.
