United Way of the Wine Country has been dedicated to improving lives locally for 50 years. Everyone deserves a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, income that can support a family through retirement, and good health. To create lasting change, United Way focuses on solving the underlying causes of common problems related to education, income and health. We are committed to achieving lasting solutions - not just quick fixes - for our entire community.
Women United members Judy Coffey, Pamela Reeves, and Lisa Wittke Schaffner along with United Way staff played a key advocacy role by joining 30 other California United Ways for United Way Capitol Days on May 14 - 15 in Sacramento. During day one, our group visited with legislators and key staff members in the offices of Senators Bill Dodd and Mike McGuire and Assemblymembers Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Marc Levine, and Jim Wood. Our contingent had conversations with each about several United Ways of California supported Assembly Bills and asked for the legislators support for all. Additionally, our group shared United Way of the Wine Country's work in our community to gain understanding and buy-in from the legislators to further our efforts to help everyone in our communities.
