United Way of the Wine Country has been dedicated to improving lives locally for 50 years. Everyone deserves a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, income that can support a family through retirement, and good health. To create lasting change, United Way focuses on solving the underlying causes of common problems related to education, income and health. We are committed to achieving lasting solutions - not just quick fixes - for our entire community.
Champion the Cause
We don’t just ask people to give, but to work for the common good by creating positive change for all members of our communities. Anyone can champion a cause by being an advocate for issues. Whether you’re volunteering your time, speaking out to improve conditions and systems that affect our community, reaching out to members of Congress, or wearing the LIVE UNITED shirt to show your support, you can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow. LIVE UNITED and advocate. Together, we can help raise awareness about the most critical health and human service needs in our region and what can be done to help.
Talk About It
United Way is called by its mission and vision to actively engage the community to change the conditions and systems that affect people by creating partnerships with businesses, individuals and government at all levels. But we can’t do it alone. Change happens one person at a time. Talk about issues that are important to you with your friends, family and co-workers. You’ll be amazed at what you learn and what you can change.

• Be brief – preferably one page
• Not use jargon

• Be specific about what you are asking
