United Way of the Wine Country has been dedicated to improving lives locally for 50 years. Everyone deserves a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, income that can support a family through retirement, and good health. To create lasting change, United Way focuses on solving the underlying causes of common problems related to education, income and health. We are committed to achieving lasting solutions - not just quick fixes - for our entire community.
As an integral part of United Way, Women United® unites the power of women to create impactful change in our community. We are a diverse community bound together by a powerful sense of belonging to each other, to the organization’s mission, and to the community we call home. Together, we invest our time, talent, and resources for United Way's early childhood education programs.
Education is a cornerstone for success in school, work, and life. We transform conditions for children in our community by investing in research-based programs such as: School Readiness Backpacks for pre-Kindergarten readiness, Schools of Hope to improve third grade literacy, and Summer Reading Packs to help kids avoid the “summer reading slide”.
Each member makes an annual undesignated gift to United Way of the Wine Country of $1,000 or more. For members under 35, you can become a Women United member through the Step-Up program. Start with a step-up gift of $500 that incrementally increases over a three-year period to $1,000 annually while you enjoy membership benefits starting year one. Women United members making an annual gift of $10,000 or more are invited to join the Tocqueville Society as a leader as well.
Please note there is no time commitment required with membership, your involvement and participation is up to you!
